Visibly Constellation at End of Year

Long winter nights is ideal for stargazing. Many constellations can be seen with the naked eye in the southern hemisphere is experiencing summer.
Astronomer Tom Kerss says sky northern hemisphere winter is ideal for stargazing. "We get the darkest skies and long nights. So we can see all the dazzling constellations which are common in the winter sky: Orion, Gemini, Taurus."

Kerss also added that the observers were lucky star in the winter might be able to see some of the planet this year.

Shortly after sunset on Christmas day, dimly lit Venus in the southwest, he said.

"The light is very dim, like a search light on the horizon," he said. "It might look like a light aircraft, but do not be fooled - it is actually a planet."

Pleasure to observe planets
In addition to Venus , for a few hours of amateur stargazers can occupy themselves with the farthest planets in the solar system : Uranus and Neptune .
" They do not seem too obvious so need to use binoculars or a telescope , " said Kerss , while explaining that the telescope is not necessary to see Jupiter , which rises in the east , so Venus sinks .
Winter gives a good opportunity to see the stars, further Kerss . " We will get the best opportunity in 12 years to see Jupiter , at the end of this year and early next year , " he said .
" Mars may also be seen , the red planet in the east , " he said , if you can resist any longer asleep . " Absolutely worth it just to see the color red , especially when going to sunset . "
The southern hemisphere
Observers in the southern hemisphere of the summer nights shorter woke longer need to be able to see the constellations. " It's just the reality reversed from what is seen in the northern hemisphere , " he said .

In addition there are celestial bodies in the southern hemisphere sky that is not visible in the northern hemisphere . " The center of the Milky Way can be seen more closely , it would always be beautiful to look at , " he said . It can also be seen large and small Magellanic Clouds , the two galaxies orbiting the Milky Way .
" The whole galaxy full of stars that can be seen with the naked eye , " said Kerss . " Take a look with binoculars and they would look really spectacular . "
Feeling helpless
Star Observing also a good way to educate children . This is according to Gillian Finnerty 21 -year -old . He was fascinated by astronomy since childhood .
" Excellent . Could see something light-years away from the backyard of the house , " Finnerty tells the DW . " Maybe there is life on a planet or a star , and they looked at us . "
" It makes me feel so small that it encourages me to understand further , " he added .
Finnerty , now a student of astrophysics at the University of Sheffield , UK , is keen to see the red planet this winter . He dreamed of going there - he did apply to join Mars One , a unidirectional mission to Mars .

"Saya akan tahu hasilnya tak lama lagi. 265.000 orang yang mendaftar, jadi kemungkinannya kecil," tutur Finnerty, seraya menambahkan dirinya ingin tinggal di sana dan membantu membangun koloni manusia yang permanen.
Begitu kelar mengamati planet-planet pada malam musim dingin, kemajuan teknologi antariksa nantinya mungkin bisa membawa lebih banyak warga bumi untuk mengunjungi planet-planet tersebut.
